Bush & Britney
Check out the latest post on the weblog of Alex Ross, one of the music critics of The New Yorker. He talks about, or rather quotes President Kennedy from a letter, "There is a connection, hard to explain logically but easy to feel, between achievement in public life and progress in the arts. [...]" JFK gives the examples of de Medici and da Vinci, or Elizabeth and Shakespeare, among others. But the best part is when Mr. Ross quotes Tom Hartley at the end of his post, "And the age of George W. Bush was also the age of Britney Spears." What a fine observation of contemporary American society and culture! John F. Kennedy really had a point.
